Dear Sir or Madam, Dear Colleagues,
WOC® 2010 is approaching with rapid strides: there are only
a good three months remaining until the World Ophthalmology Congress begins in the Berlin ICC. The countdown started long ago for our organisation team,
and preparations are running full speed ahead. We are making additional information on the courses, lectures and symposiums available to you online on
a regular basis. Take another look at www.woc2010.org and put your own congress program together.
The scientific program is, of course, the alpha and omega of every congress. Even so, please do not forget that WOC® 2010 is taking place in one of the most exciting cities in the world:
a city that boasts a range of cultural activities to suit every taste. Give it a try! Opera goers will feel especially at home in the German capital. Find out more below.
We are looking forward to an interesting congress and an exciting time for us all in Berlin!
Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Gerhard K. Lang
President WOC® 2010
"Ophthalmic Premier League": Who will win the cup?
What have ophthalmology and football to do with each other?
Inspired by the matches in the European football leagues, the symposium "Ophthalmic Premier League" offers a congress session of a quite different kind.
This session, in which four teams of four compete against each other, takes place on 8 June, 2010 from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm. Each team member has four minutes
to present per video his or her most demanding cataract case and its solution. The individual cases will then be discussed and rated. Of course, in this context,
"referees" will be present. However, we do not think it will come to a penalty shoot-out ... You will find an overview of the entire congress program
here.
Childcare facilities: attending the conference with your offspring is possible
Children are welcome guests at WOC® 2010. Childcare facilities will be provided for congress visitors children. Qualified educational staff take care of children while their parents attend symposiums, lectures and courses. This care service is available free of charge for children and young people up to the age of 14. Officially recognised educators make sure that boredom has no chance: a varied program of fun and games and individual structured activities is in store for the youngsters. Further information and registration modalities are available here.
Berlin, Berlin: curtain up for Mozart, Verdi & Co
Eight large symphony orchestras, including the world famous Berlin Philharmonic, make Berlin an Eldorado for lovers of classical music from all over the world. In addition – and this is unrivalled in the world – the city has three opera houses: the State Opera Unter den Linden, the Deutsche Oper and the Komische Oper Berlin. In the current season 2009/2010 alone, there are more than 80 different opera productions on the program. Take advantage of this opportunity and let the wonderful sounds and melodies work their enchantment on you after a busy day at the congress. Experience Puccini and Verdi, Mozart and Bizet, Wagner and Strauss as well as some rarities and new discoveries in the city´s three opera houses.
